Marriott to build 5 hotels in Africa

Last month Marriott won the final clearance to buy rival Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc. Marriott will be building 3 hotels in Cape Town while, another 2 will under construction in Johannesburg.
There is no rapid economic growth in Africa due to exploitation, low incomes and inflation.How is it that Marriott believes that Africa is important to them because of the continent’s rapid growth expanding middle class and youth population, this is according to Marriott chief executive Arne Sorenson. Is Marriott hotels targeting Africa’s middle class groups now and looking to exploit our youth population and to keep the crime rate lower.
The developments will lift its number of hotels on the continent to just over 200 hotel, with more than 27,000 rooms.There will be 8,000 building-related jobs while under construction and over 700 long-term hospitality jobs will be created with the five hotels.
Having bought leading chain Protea in 2014, Marriott is Africa’s biggest hotel operator and the new hotels will be branded Marriott.
