Cape Town Hotel Reopens After Multi-Million-Rand Refurbishment

Shimmy Luxury Collection (SLC) has come to aid of the Ritz Hotel in Sea Point, Cape Town, which will reopen this month following a R120 million refurbishment.

There will be  212 luxury bedrooms to accommodate guests and 1,000 delegates, to fill five conference rooms.

At the top is the Bertus Basson flagship restaurant, where guests can enjoy an all-day restaurant, sitting indoors or by the poolside.

The lobby area offers unlimited WIFI, printing facilities and working space to accommodate guests and business travellers.

Tshwane ,Sandton Launches two new hotels

The Capital Menlyn Maine in Tshwane (Pretoria) and the Capital on Park in Sandton, Johannesburg, is set to open 2 new hotels this year.

On 15 March 2017, the Capital Menlyn Maine new penthouses suites and two top floors will be complete and available.

There will be 200 one-, two- and three-bedroom hotel apartments available.There is a 240-seat conference centre which can be split into three and can accommodate up to 80 people in banquet or classroom style. A 50-seat breakaway room, two meeting rooms and an events deck with a purpose-designed marquee that can accommodate up to 450 delegates will also be available in the hotel.

All standard rooms will feature one bedroom, an en-suite bathroom equipped with a bath, shower and toilet, a lounging area, kitchen with a nook (table) and an add-on second bedroom will come with two single beds; an en-suite bathroom   and with a shower and toilet.

The Koi Restaurant hotel will have 280 seats and will cater for the public and also room service and daily breakfast.

The Capital on Park, Sandton, will have 500 seats for conferencing and meetings. There will be 240 one- and two-bedroom apartments and  penthouse suites.

New features for Sabi Sabi lodge

Refurbished earth Lodge in Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve recently added new soft furnishings, lighting and relaxation areas.

There’s a chandelier and comfortable chairs in the bar area while the outdoor furniture has been grouped to create quiet spaces for guests.

The wine cellar has been remodeled to better showcase the wines and champagnes and now has a banquet table that is ideal for private dining, wine tasting and special occasions.

A new sunken fire-pit lounge overlooking a water feature has been added, where guests can sit around a log fire under a canopy of stars.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Durban Umhlanga to open 2019 in South Africa

Being in South Africa in 3 major cities strengthens our position in the country and in the continent, where our biggest growth hotel market on average, is how we sign a hotel every 37 days and open one every 60 days.

This means more jobs will be created all around South Africa. Even if the economic growth is far-fetched in incomes, how will we get any richer? Only employed, but at least our bellies will be full and we’ll have a roof over our head. This does not mean that we are getting accommodation from hotels, what about taxi fair and siblings or children to feed. This is based not only on short-term(days, weeks, a month or two) but on the long- term( for years to come).

Marriott to build 5 hotels in Africa

Last month Marriott won the final clearance to buy rival Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc. Marriott will be building 3 hotels in Cape Town while, another 2 will under construction in Johannesburg.

There is no rapid economic growth  in Africa due to exploitation, low incomes and inflation.How is it that Marriott believes that Africa is important to them because of the continent’s rapid growth expanding middle class and youth population, this is according to Marriott chief executive Arne Sorenson. Is Marriott hotels targeting Africa’s middle class groups now and looking to exploit our youth population and to keep the crime rate lower.

The developments will lift its number of hotels on the continent to just over 200 hotel, with more than 27,000 rooms.There will be 8,000 building-related jobs while under construction and over 700 long-term hospitality jobs will be created with the five hotels.

Having bought leading chain Protea in 2014, Marriott is Africa’s biggest hotel operator and the new hotels will be branded  Marriott.
